TECO PEOPLES GAS

On Monday, June 22, 2009 TECO Peoples Gas began its initial stage of construction of a 12,000 linear foot, four inch main supply line beginning at the far end of Avenue Avignon and continuing throughout the north loop of Cheval Blvd. This first phase of construction is expected to take two months to complete weather permitting, or by August 28, 2009. The method of construction TECO will be using for the laying of the gas lines will entail a combination of hand digging and directional drilling, which will take place along the right-of-way at the front of each property. Construction will not start any day until after 8:00 am and will be limited to Monday – Friday excluding holidays.
In August, TECO Peoples Gas will begin converting the existing homes on Rue Loire and Avenue Cannes that now use propane. TECO’s construction coordinator, Ron Wood, will be contacting each home owner that lives on Rue Loire and Avenue Cannes, in order to review their gas appliances, and to schedule a conversion date for their home.

Beginning in September, TECO Peoples Gas will then start construction of an additional 20,000 linear feet of a two inch main supply line that can serve all remaining lots in Cheval East. This second phase of construction should take approximately three months and be completed by December 18, 2009. During these three months, they will also be installing individual service lines and converting existing propane customers who have individual tanks.
TECO Peoples Gas offers cash-back rebates of up to $1,350 for homeowners converting electric appliances to natural gas. For more information, visit peoplesgas.com/residential/rebates or call toll free 1-877-832-6747 (select Residential, then option 4). Representatives from TECO Peoples gas will also be contacting homeowners to provide more information and answer any questions.
As in phase I, the construction coordinator, Ron Wood, will be contacting each LP gas user to review their gas appliances and to schedule a conversion date.
In terms of a tentative schedule, we will proceed on the following streets:

  1. Avenue Capri
  2. Avenue Monaco
  3. Bordeaux
  4. Beau Rivage Circle
  5. Avenue Bayonnes
  1. Wimbledon Circle
  2. Cheval Blvd. South Loop
  3. Pepper Pike Lane
  4. Highland Park Circle
  5. Biarritz Village Association

In January of 2010, TECO Peoples Gas will continue to run service lines to the remaining propane homes and to any home currently uses electric and may want to convert to Natural gas. Depending on the demand from homeowners to convert to natural gas, TECO’s construction should be completed by May of 2010.
Please note that the above schedule could be delayed by inclement weather or other emergency situation requiring Peoples Gas personnel to respond.
